Getting Up Early

I have to say that the best practical decision I have ever made to improve my daily life is the decision to get up early. I started doing this about a month ago and it has made a bigger difference in my sense of purpose than anything else I have done. Now, I am not a morning person. I hate getting up early. But after a couple of weeks, it’s not as painful, haha.

This isn’t just about having “alone time”. I am able to connect with Joel before he leaves for work, have a cup of coffee or tea, work out, read my bible, pray, and figure out breakfast before Ethan’s tired little eyes are looking up at me. By the time he is up, I am ready for him. I don’t need to sit on the couch while I wake up or throw a breakfast bar at him to stall him while I figure out something nutritious for him to eat.

I have such a sense of intention in the mornings, and it sets me up with a positive outlook on my entire day. It also makes it easier to finish my day earlier so that I can get the amount of sleep that I need, something I have never really realized is extremely important.

If you feel lost, unorganized or unproductive in the mornings, I am begging you to give this a two week run. I am not exaggerating when I say that it has changed my life.
